Spanish Bilingual Lead Montessori Teacher

Full Time | Concord, CA

We seek an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about working with children ages 2-6. The Lead Montessori Teacher  position requires love, patience, and respect for children. Reporting to the Site Director, the Lead Montessori Teacher is responsible for managing a classroom of up to 15 students in a mixed-age classroom, and supervising the Assistant. He/she maintains all aspects of creating a dynamic Montessori learning environment in his/her classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-class preparation, including consultation with the Assistant and Director.
  • Outline the projected daily routine, including any special activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, including constant supervision.
  • Receive students in a positive and welcoming manner while screening for wellness each morning.
  • Track attendance, student in/outs, illness, injury, incidents, and other information for the Director.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their child’s development and to determine goals. This may include helping to determine a child’s learning resource needs.
  • Provide written reports of children’s progress and meet with parents two times per school year during parent-teacher conferences.
  • Conduct circle time activities, including finger play, singing songs, and movement.
  • Change the Montessori materials monthly to align with seasonal curriculum and according to the children’s current interests.

Required Qualifications
:
  • 12 units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a Fingerprint Background clearance.

Upon hiring, the Following Must be Completed:
  • Negative TB test and must pass a health screening by a medical provider.
  • Proof of Influenza, Pertussis, & Measles Immunization.
  • Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training – valid within 2 years.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Preventive Health Certification within 90 days of hire.

Special Skills Needed:
  • AMS or AMI Certification
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and focused in a busy, child-oriented classroom and be a collaborative and supportive Teacher. The Lead Montessori Preschool teacher must always be kind, warm, polite, caring, and respectful.
  • A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of the school as articulated in the mission statement of Holding Hands Montessori.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well with families and staff members of various backgrounds.
  • Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Hourly Wage: $28 to $31/hour, based on education and experience.
